I have found this copy several months ago on eBay for a pound. This is the very first UK CD of "No Jacket Required" on Virgin label. The CD was manufactured in January, 1985, when the album has officially been released to the market. The CD has a smooth-sided jewel case with "Patent Pending" and a tiny "1" on the right corner. The jewel case has a long bar stops. This type of jewel case was often used in the middle 1980s.
The CD has been manufactured in the UK by NIMBUS (the first CD manufacturer in the UK). It dose not have a barcode. I think, this copy is relatively common. It must been manufactured in millions. I actually have two of these. Both are identical. There are also slightly later pressings of this title, with two or three *dots* in the matrix area, that were released without a barcode, but in a different type of jewel case.
Photos of the disc below.
PLEASE NOTE: The disc of this release has a slightly goldish label colour. Please also note, that this is a copy from the period, when NIMBUS produce the CDs, that had a wrong lacquer formula, therefore, the CD label became a sticky. Fortunately both of my copies are OK. I keep them sealed in a cellophane bag.
